Habs Deal Rivet for Jorge, 1st round pick

The attached article from the Montreal Gazette illustrates just what a class act Craig Rivet was as a Habs Defenseman.

Rivet was a solid guy on the blueline who you didn't need to worry about. I wish him well in San Jose. Waiting to see what other action there may be before the trade deadline...

dear pumpernickel. I do visit you almost every day but most of the time I just don't know what you're talking about. And here all these years I thought canada and Australia were similar in many ways. Although, we do have a national PM and state premiers... So there's a similarity. Have a good day, mate.

well, unfortunately I often forget the range of the audience out there. For the longest time, it was for only 15-20 friends with similar interests and knowledge of the lingo particular to politics or in this case hockey. The symbol in the attached photo is that of the Montreal Canadiens (from my hometown) and affectionately know by the fans as the Habs (short for habitants-an old colloquial way of referring to French canadiens from colonial days). In any event, they have been one of the last century's most successful hockey clubs, but have been struggling for the past 10-12 years.

As for the PM and Premiers, I often refer to our PM derisively as Steve, as he was in elected politics for 10-15 years and was always known as Stephen, then last year, during his first visit to Washington, President Bush refers to him as "my buddy Steve".

Sorry for the social science lesson.

Good day, eh.

Dear pumpernickel. Thanks for the explanation. I went to Montreal once, and I really liked it. And I think we speak the 'eh' language in Queensland, my home state (more like 'hey' with a silent H).

I'm learning more about canada than I ever bargained for. Politics is sort of similar to Australian politics, so it's really interesting. Bush has a way of befriending all the PMs, when he was in Oz he called our PM "Mister Prime Minister". Aussies being Aussies, we've never called our PM anything but his name, John Howard. All of a sudden, all the newspapers start to call him Mr Prime Minister.

Don't they know that Bush's word isn't gold?
