Stop Censoring Christmas

Well the BBC, as it turns out, are not as big wankers as I was going to write. It turns out that the BBC has reversed its earlier decision to censor The Pogues' Fairytale of New York. This is one of the most beautiful holiday songs that gives me that warm and buttery Christmas feeling.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the nativity police at Elmdale public school in Ottawa who have replaced the word Christmas in the song Silver Bells for their Christmas, err holiday concert. And to top it off and really infuriate me is the audacity of the school board chair when called to account for this repugnant censorship. To Lynn Scott and the rest of the Christmas apologists, censors and wankers, in the words of the Pogues, "Happy christmas your arse, I pray God its your last" ridiculous attempt to take the Christ out of Christmas.

Merry Christmas!

I must ask. To whom is removing references to Christmas being tolerant and respectful to? Certainly not christians.

The Jewish have Chanuka, the Islam has Ramadan, the Hindu have Diwali, and the list can go on and on. These observances are undertaken by their followers with no influence from outside of their synagogues, temples, shrines and so forth. Neither do these adherents try to influence the rites, ceremonies or festivals of others. To bring "political correctness" into ANY religious rites or celebration is abhorrent to me. Think back in history and consider the results of politics and religion clashing. Wars have resulted from just this type of interference...smacks of religious persecution, if you like. You can find many references that mankind now would rather forget about.
Canada IS a multi-cultural country...first nations, Judaism, Islamic, Moslim, Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist,Baha'i, Confucian, Doaist, and many more INCLUDING Christians.
Let ALL the religious celebrate their religions and leave the political correctness out of it!!! To not do so scares the hell out of me!!

Christians are easy targets as they tend to "turn the other cheek."

Unfortunately, bullies (especially those in positions of power and privilege) generally prefer easy targets.

Many thanks to all those who stand up to powerful bullies and publicly support those who just want to keep Christ in Christmas.
