Why is the RCMP killing so many people in custody?

So another man has died after being tasered by the Mounties in British Columbia. This is outrageous - there needs to be a ban on taser use by police in Canada. And for the cops to continue to deny any link between tasers and deaths is as ludicrous as the tobacco execs claiming no link between smoking and cancer...unbelievable.

This is an issue ripe for a Royal Commission.

Is this taser thing becoming a trend in Canada? Is Canada becoming a Running Man kind of country?

I don't know about a ban, but certainly better training and more stringent standards for their use.

Tasers should be treated like guns and used as a last resort. Problem is, using a taser is a lot easier and safer for the officers than physical contact with a potentially dangerous individual. And when a decision in a life-threatening situation has to be made in split second, there's little time to ponder choices.

Not excusing the officers for using tasers, but they're human and tend like the rest of us to take the path of least resistance and most expediency.

I suspect that regulating taser use will be much like putting up traffic lights. They usually don't go up until there are enough fatal accidents to sway public opionion in favour of them.
